Save Money Decorating Your Aquarium

The cost of maintaining an Aquarium can be expensive. After you get the bare minimum of supplies you need just to get it going your left with decorating it to make it something that's enjoyable to look at.

True Aquarists who put their time and energy into their tanks feel that the way their tank looks is a reflection of who they are. And it's true. You can tell when you look at someone's fish tank how important it is to them.

This post is going to tell you how to put together a Texas Holey Rock scene for the littlest amount of money possible and still look amazing.

Pumps, heaters and filters are just the tip of what you must have to keep an Aquarium. After all of that you have to set a scene with Rocks and sometimes plants.

Plants are fairly inexpensive. Rocks on the other hand can get very pricey unless you know of ways to save in that department.

I've put together many aquatic scenes and I will tell you one way to save real money putting together a theme that will give your tank the "WOW" factor.

First you need a centerpiece that is going to make a substantial statement in your tank. There's nothing worse than a fish tank with a lot of dinky rocks running across the bottom. A large rock with height in the middle is the first piece that needs to go in your theme.

One of our Showpiece Rocks  has enough Limestone that by itself it will be able to raise your water's pH level and help stabilize it. All of our Holey Rocks are natural so they are one of a kind and all have different features. Some have a lot of small holes, a lot of big holes or even one big hole. Some have caves and some don't. You just have to look until you see the one that stands out to you and makes you think that it will make a big statement in your tank.

Then go outside in your yard or maybe along a walking trail and find a rock or two that has an archway or passage underneath. There are all sorts of beautiful rocks in nature that have nice shapes and they are totally safe for your fish. More importantly they are free! And it doesn't matter if they don't have the calcium the Limestone Rocks do because with one big Limestone Rock you don't need any more. Another place to get Aquarium Rocks is near a river. You don't even have to go all the way to the river. If you get close you can get a handful of River Rocks. Be sure to get a few with color to give your scene a little contrast.

One big Texas Holey Rock will look nice and cost less than a lot of a lot of smaller ones.
